FooDB Name | 1-Octen-3-ol |
---|
Description | (r)-1-octen-3-ol, also known as 1-vinylhexanol or 3-hydroxy-1-octene, is a member of the class of compounds known as fatty alcohols. Fatty alcohols are aliphatic alcohols consisting of a chain of a least six carbon atoms. Thus, (r)-1-octen-3-ol is considered to be a fatty alcohol lipid molecule (r)-1-octen-3-ol is slightly soluble (in water) and an extremely weak acidic compound (based on its pKa). (r)-1-octen-3-ol can be found in herbs and spices, mushrooms, and onion-family vegetables, which makes (r)-1-octen-3-ol a potential biomarker for the consumption of these food products (r)-1-octen-3-ol can be found primarily in feces. |
