DescriptionZucchini or courgette is a summer squash which can reach nearly a meter in length, but which is usually harvested at half that size or less. Along with certain other squashes and pumpkins, it belongs to the species Cucurbita pepo. (Wikipedia) Yellow zucchini, or golden zucchini, was developed by the W. Atlee Burpee Seed Company from a Fordhook Zucchini crossed with a Bicolored Gourd and released in 1973 (http://www.cooksinfo.com/burpee-golden-zucchini). It is said to have a distinctive flavour that is somewhat sweeter than green zucchini.
