Chemical Information
FooDB Name(-)-phaseollidin
DescriptionPhaseollidin is a member of the class of compounds known as pterocarpans. Pterocarpans are benzo-pyrano-furano-benzene compounds, containing the 6H-[1]benzofuro[3,2-c]chromene skeleton. They are derivatives of isoflavonoids. Phaseollidin is practically insoluble (in water) and a very weakly acidic compound (based on its pKa). Phaseollidin can be found in a number of food items such as hyacinth bean, lima bean, yellow wax bean, and scarlet bean, which makes phaseollidin a potential biomarker for the consumption of these food products.
